Myths, legends and fairytales is something that we have been told by our elders when we were younger. But it can also be something that we are born with, in our DNA. In my series “shadow paintings” I tried to fine those codes. In symbols, signs and patterns.I tried to find rituals that have been lost. I tried to remake and manifest paintings to make our subconscious come to light Human archetypes.
In “shadow paintings” you can see two different kind of paintings in one. On the front of the painting is one image and on the back hides another. Depending on how the work is illuminated you will see different images. The shadow that is hidden becomes a part of the artwork. The shadow is destructive but also positive. Only when you acknowledge your dark side can you fully understand who you really are.
