Alexis Oyola is a painter, sculptor and videoartist born in Antofagasta, Chile 1971. In 1974 he and his family moved to Sweden due to the military coup 1973 in Chile. As a child of two dictatorships, his mother and brother is born in Moscow, Russia, he felt alienated throughout his childhood and disappeared into himself by drawing and music. In 1993 he studied at Konst och Natur in Nyköping where he met Morgan Yngve, Swedish painter, and Jon Brint with whom he formed the art group Art Extreme. In 1995 he began studying at Norrköpings skulpturskola and in 1997 he and Morgan Yngve created the public wooden sculpture Ask & Embla in Nyköping.

With the video installation Making the Enemy shown at Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, MAC, Santiago, Chile 2005 also selected to the Vll Video and New Media Bennial of Santiago the MAC, Alexis examines his own identity linked to the political climate of the Cold War. He has shown his artwork at the
Eskilstuna Konstmuseum, Sörmlands Konstmuseum and at CAC, Centro de Arte Contemporaneo, Mijas, Spain. In the paintings Alexis creates an abstract world of symbols, fairy tales, mythological figures, artefacts and lost rites.
