In the earlier paintings Alexis developed the technique that has become his characteristic way of painting. By experimenting with the structure of the painting, he worked out a mixture consisting of wall paint(acrylic), concrete and mixed media. A rough underpainting is applied to the canvas during one session. When dry, layer upon layer of thin paint is placed on the canvas to create the contrasts Alexis seeks. The motifs are abstractions of landscapes, human and mythological figures and lost symbols.
